Single Review | Reuben and The Dark – We Will Get There

Reuben and the dark

Ah yes, I hadn’t intended on writing up a new tune review this weekend. Over the last couple of days I started writing a few short stories for the first time. I never really sat down and just bashed out stories from my head before so it has been an interesting experience so far. Today was dedicated to non-music writing yet, here I am, drafting up a little bunch of words for a Canadian folk act called Reuben and The Dark. I got fairly excited this morning upon hearing We Will Get There for the first time. What can you do eh?

This song has nearly everything I look for in a song! Smooth and natural vocals – check. A rolling beat – check. Supreme use of a slider – check. This single from Reuben and The Dark is utterly fantastic and couldn’t be ignored. I video called my sister earlier and we both danced to it through cyberspace – the joys of finding new music in quarantine.

The wind is swooshing away outside – dark clouds are back above the London skyline. Take a moment and enjoy some well-crafted, catchy Canadian folk. It’s a dark day all around here, whilst typing, the ‘Stay at Home’ motto has been replaced by some watery, vague and sinister ‘Stay Alert’ statement. Back to work tomorrow so? Unbelievable.

All those worrying thoughts aside, this is a high-class tune! Embrace it.
