Kira Metcalf – Lily

New York is our next stop for a really pleasant single from singer/songwriter Kira Metcalf. Lily is soft, sweet and delicate – this is a perfect accompaniment for a summer BBQ in the sun. It seems this song is more refined than her other releases on her 2018 album Indelicate. Lily is an accoustic offering smack bang in the middle of the album and shines bright. Metcalf is an artist that holds a really crisp vocal.

The track opens with smooth accoustic guitar and Metcalf‘s lovely voice chirping away. What I love are those high notes she hits. The notes she hits reminds me of up and coming Irish act AE Mak. This is a non intrusive, beautifully written jingle with nice prolonged notes that are very well hit throughout. She definitely has the talent.

The Album

I couldn’t write a piece without mentioning Indelicate‘s accapella intro I Had A Head and the blissful harmonies heard in Numb. These two songs illustrate the quality vocal range she has. Enchantingly beautiful is the slick transition into Comet. The percussion in that track reminds me of disbanded Dublin band The Ambience Affair. This album has to be taken in one go, each track slides into the next with two superb monologues breaking it up. It is portrayed like a continuous story, rather than a collection of tracks. I will definitely be throwing my ear at this album again.
