London based songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dominic Wolf is the latest act to tickle our fancy in the capital. We take the tempo down to meandering slow walk here with the latest impressive single from Wolf. Tainted Paradise was released back in August but somehow bypassed us. We got it sent in yesterday and it is absolutely superb.
Wolf is an experimental musician who takes great pride in unearthing new sounds and samples and incorporating them into his music. He has religiously spent the last year building his collection of obscure samples and uses them in his recorded and live sets. Trivial household goods like salt and pepper containers being hit together, the sound of a can of deodorant being sprayed and plastic bags being scrunched are the kinds of things that Wolf obsesses over. This gives his music a really interesting edge.
I remember Aussie artist Gotye released a documentary a couple of years ago after his hit ‘Somebody I used to Know‘ blew up. He had the same idea of collecting sounds and it always intrigued me. These kinds of creative brains don’t just think outside the box, they record the box and put the sound of a box into a song. I love the artistry.

Upcoming London Shows
Dominic Wolf’s tunes are really slow and steady but I find them endearingly charming. If you want to catch him performing in London you don’t have to wait long. He will be performing two shows in November. He plays The Shacklewell Arms on Nov 6th. In addition, he will be on a wholly impressive bill at Scala on Nov 27th, supporting Sir Was and Wasuremono in association with Parallel Lines. That is one of the best midweek bills of music I’ve seen in recent times. We will be there!
