I have featured the music of Ollie Chanin lots on the site in recent months. The man has copious amounts of talent to burn. I won’t get sick of listening to his unique song structures anytime soon. I had the chance to sit down and chat with him about all things music a couple of weeks ago. You can check that out the Ollie Chanin interview here. There, we delved deep into his first EP of the year ‘Young Luck‘. He likes to move quick between releases and doesn’t hang about and cling onto his tunes. The second chapter ‘Slow Your Roll‘ is out now.
The stand out track for me on this little bundle is the short-but-sweet single ‘If Love‘. Chanin is a bit of a genius when it comes to creating tripp-y sound effects to accompany his distinct and often mechanical vocals! Can’t get enough of this one! Facile explores his French roots and Know Me Like Fire is a totally bizarre and off-beat tune that is wonderfully constructed. If you are a fan of mainstream and safe music, Ollie Chanin is certainly not for you. His style is definitely his own (I hate that statement) – but on this occasion, it’s written in true context.
Over time, I’m certainly sure that Ollie Chanin will begin to carve out the successful music career his creativity deserves.

Check out last week’s interview with NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Quinn Christopherson here.
I caught up with new South Coast based eccentric rocker Billy Nomates recently too. She is such a talent. Check that one here.
