Some New Releases : 7th Feb – Sniffer’s Picks of The Day.

Benedict // When We Were Young

A brand new single from Dutch songwriter Benedict has just been released today. The song is titled ‘When We Were Young‘ and features some really nice drumming towards the end! This guy came onto my radar a few months ago with the quality ‘Finish The Wine‘. I have been a fan ever since.

He is an edgy character – His music is fairly solid too.

Darshaan // Northern Line

I was mad proud to have had Darshaan play at my first curated night in London back in October. He has been doing really well in his short musical career so far and his stock continues to grow and grow. He was all over the BBC late last year with his single ‘Palm of my Hand’ getting lots of interest and airplay from the likes of Hew Stephens etc.

He played a stellar set with his band in the Fox & Firkin that night – it’s clear these lads have a bright future ahead of them if all goes to plan. Darshaan is a really interesting, music mad chap and is also involved in the Run That Again blog and plays bass for Leyma. If you need a man to chat about all things music – he is your man.

His latest single has just been released today and it’s called ‘Northern Line‘.

Fantasy 15 // The Menace

My favourite mysterious instrumental intergalactic funk band are back again for a second installment of rhythmic grooves. These folks are a real treat and I don’t have a clue about who they are still. I understand that they are associated to Eraserhood Sound‘s ‘Synth & Soul’ label. I featured their debut single ‘Fame Of Life’ two months ago. I had to feature the follow up too.

The Menace is the definition of lounge music. If the lounge was situated on Mars.

I think I’m the first one of the planet to hear this since it’s release a couple of hours ago. Class.

Past Palms // Rainwater

Some electronic music now from New York based LoFi producer Past Palms. He has just released a dreamy single called ‘Rainwater’ which is filled with lots of lovely little noise samples and ideas. He defines his music as ‘music to water the plants to’ and I am fairy sure he is spot on.

With beat making and sounds like Gold Panda, this fella stands out. I was obsessed with Panda a few years ago and hearing this one from Past Palms made that kind of impact. This is a really complex track and the brooding bass gives it a nice edge in the mid section. Enjoy – Super chill.
