Around two years ago I recieved my first submission from Kate. It was a weirdly experimental and abstract single called ‘Bicycle Spokes‘. Initially I didn’t really know what I was listening to and that’s why it resonated. Off beat percussion and a woman doing her own thing. As a blog that strives to uncover the wonderful artists who operate in their own unique sphere, Brunnotts typifies this coveted classification.
Her new single Projections appeared recently and re-introduced her music to me again. Her development since that wonky, yet endearing, Bicycle Spokes track is pretty damn incredible. The new one has all the catchy credentials of something Annie Mac used to spin on her Radio One show. It has the epic style synths, imposing vocals and a main stage festival presence. This is a song best listened to while spinning around looking up at the sky. Not that I’ve been doing that at all but I’d imagine this song would accompany that undertaking pretty well.
I love seeing artists persevere and blossom naturally. It’s hard work in the music game – Brunnotts isn’t stopping anytime soon and her trajectory is only going one direction. She is one to watch for sure – steadily growing and maturing.
