Grammy winner William Phillips AKA Tourist released a new album named ‘Everyday’ this week and we gave it an oul listen. Tourist is the man who produced one of my all time favourite tracks in ‘Run’, naturally my ears prick up when I catch wind of a new release.
Phillips always navigates in and around the dreamy synth-y, glitch pop style and ‘Everyday’ is no different. Tunes like ‘Emily’ and ‘Apollo’ showcase Tourist’s natural style and production preference. For me, I am more of a fan of chilled stuff rather than synth-y brooding electro, therefore took solace in ‘Hearts’. A more laid-back styled approach is taken in this song, which provides a form of respite in this loud synth heavy album. Lovely sound effects litter the songs background, from the rustic crackling heard throughout to the fluttering of layered chimes and percussion snippets. This is a song to think and unwind to, relive the tension built up and just let the soundscape calm you down. Enjoy this little mellow treat below.
