Kane Miller – Sleeping Sea

Yet another Ontario artist – there must be something musical in the water up there. We swing by Lakefield to find this little gem from Kane Miller. This track was made in conjunction with LV music‘s award winning producer Femke Weidema, Miller has made a really lovely folk tune here. This is simple, effective and very easy listening.

Miller draws on influences such as Irishman Damien Rice, Iron & Wine and Josh Ritter to mould his sound, not a bad batch of musicians to look up to. I’m sure his own music will inspire upcoming music makers in future, if ‘Sleeping Seas‘ is anything to go by. The track opens slowly with subtle vocals and a simple accoustic guitar melody in accompaniment. Keys are then introduced to build the mood until the clapping percussion fuses the whole thing together. The track never over extends itself and it comes across as a really polished yet simplistic track.

Miller is a very passionate musician and this new project with LV has really allowed him to bring along new techniques, writing methods and sounds. Long may it continue.
