Simen Mitlid – Reality Tsars

Oh Yes. Norwegian singer/songwriter Simen Mitlid has just made one of them timeless folk ballads. Reality Tsars is like my perfect little tune to be honest. Sounding like a cross between the folk-y style of The Paper Kites and with the high pitched vocal sound of Patrick Watson, this fella has a sound to be cherished.

I rarely find such solace in a folk track these days, I find a lot of folk musicians sound the same stylistically these days. These little gems don’t come around too much for me. Those female vocals at the end of this one, coupled with the banjo plucking away put me into a trance. Eyes closed, fresh air on the face and the tune ringing through my ears = bliss.

This track comes from his upcoming second album which will follow his critically acclaimed debut ‘Everything is the same’ back in 2017. I will be downloading his latest one as soon as it surfaces. Mitlid records everything himself in his tranquil hometown set in the Nordic woodlands. There is a rustic innocence to his sound, I’m in awe. Catch him performing live in Oslo tomorrow, September 21st @ Ingendsteds. A show not to be missed if you are over in those parts.

I hope you give Simen Mitlid the time of day on this one, this is a spectacular release! One of my favorite finds this year. Get in lad.
