My second Margate, Kent based review of the year comes from the quirky Conrad Deadly. Conrad follows Fat White Family’s, Dan Lyons, onto the site representing the small scenic seaside town. This is Deadly’s debut single titled ‘Sally Lives in my Girls Yard’ and it ripples away nicely in a rugged and catchy manner.
The official video that accompanies the track is quite interesting too. It follows a dramatic drink infused, night of love between a masked figure and a man in a hat. The clip is shot in a part of London I know very well – I’ve have had many a memorable foray to Brick Lane Market and it’s nice to see the unique, ‘Nomadic Community Garden’ getting a bit of deserved air-time. Brick Lane Market holds many of my weird and wonderful memories in this city. I enjoyed watching.
On the evidence of this chirping and vibrant debut tune, it’s clear Conrad Deadly is one to watch! Like Lyons, he has a very rough and rugged sound that just captivates me. Check this one out!
Check out this week’s interview with Billy Nomates here.
I caught up with New York’s Ollie Chanin last week. He is fresh off a collaboration with Eminem. If you still have some reading left in your eyes, check that one here.
