Dutch lads ‘Stuart Mavis’ have been firmly on my radar since I saw them play back in 2017 at Eurosonic Festival in Groningen. At the time, I was one hundred percent sure that their self-titled debut album would be a huge hit for them. The sound that these guys produce is absolutely superb and I’m still baffled that they haven’t had the success they deserve. The brilliant ‘Ocean’ was heavily played on IPod and I posted their live rendition of ‘Different Generation’ up here on The Sound Sniffer last year, it’s fair to say that I’ve become a fan.
Mavis, signed up to Universal Records last year, so it’s not as though they haven’t been scouted by the best in the business. I think the problem here is that the music industry is so saturated with people making beats in their bedrooms electronically, these types of traditional 4 piece bands have gone out of fashion. It’s unfortunate that people would rather hear the likes of ‘Big Shaq’ or ‘J Cole’ rather than something more authentic. Nonetheless (Micro rant aside), Stuart Mavis’ music is on Spotify if anyone wants to listen in. Keep it up.
